EAT FROM THE LAND, whether its beans from your garden, cucumbers from a CSA, or corn from the Farmer's Market... The goal is FARM TO TABLE!
For the Irish, Lughnasadh in early August is a time for celebrating the abundance of the summer months. Early August is when the first wheat comes in, and it is customary to make a fresh loaf from the first grains. The Christian sister to this ancient holiday is Lammas, which translates to "loaf mass."
Before you eat, offer a moment spent in appreciation for the food, the people, the systems and highways, the politicians and farmers, the pollinators and chefs... Below is my Witchy/Buddhist combo of a blessing.
"To all beings who make this food possible, may you be filled with love, may you be filled with joy, and may you be free from suffering. Thank you to the Sun and the Moon, the Earth and the Sky."
